Wind Tracker, redesigned from the ground up
A new light and dark design, a live counter built for each sport, jump detection, redesigned messaging: our biggest update, in detail.
This is Wind Tracker’s biggest update yet: every screen has been reworked, and a lot has changed under the hood. Here is what’s new.
A new design
- A new look: warm colours, big numbers, clearer blocks, in light and dark.
- On iPad and large screens, pages open in side-by-side panels: the list on one side, the details on the other.
During your ride
- A live counter redesigned for each sport family, over three screens, with a screen that stays on.
- On iPhone, the Lock Screen and the Dynamic Island follow your session without opening the app.
- Pause by hand, and tracking resumes on its own as soon as you move again.
- An alert if GPS drops, or if you get signed out during a ride.
- Much more accurate elevation gain, using the phone’s barometer when it has one.
- Separate units “on water” and “on land and snow”: km/h, knots, pace per kilometre or per mile…
Your jumps
- Your jumps are detected during the session: height, airtime, distance.
- They are listed on the session page, your best jump shows in the feed, and you can see them live on the map.
Jump detection is still experimental. All the details in Your jumps, measured during the session.
Maps, spots and weather
- Stations on the map: four styles to choose from, with the average wind.
- A new light map background, and tracks in 18 shades of speed.
- The 48-hour station chart redesigned, with the station’s altitude.
- Clearer local forecasts, and tomorrow’s map opens on your region.
- Spots: opening and closing periods, alert bell, tides, and a redesigned Find My Spot.
Your sessions
- Filter My Sessions by year and by sport.
- Edit the distance and times of a session without GPS.
- Split or merge your sessions.
- Two new sports: walking, and trail running (ultra-trail is grouped in).
- A session goes public right away, if that is your setting.
Community and messages
- Redesigned messaging: groups, conversations, photos and videos.
- A redesigned community feed, manual sessions with or without a photo, and live in red.
- Copy a rider’s live tracking link, with a nice preview card.
- Comment moderation.
Safety and account
- Emergency contacts: messages and notifications redone.
- Delete your account and your data right from the app.
- Notifications and emails in your language, your settings respected, a redone evening summary.
- Attach screenshots to a bug report.
SOS is still in beta: it is an experimental feature that goes through the internet. It does not replace a personal locator beacon (PLB) or a call to the emergency services.
And we improved stability everywhere.
